Engraving Made Simple: Advice from 33Carat
Keep it short: Women get 15 letters, men get 20 letters, and sometimes these can be exceeded for a small fee.
Width: Engraving will be good on rings with a band of 1.4mm or larger.
Fonts: Any font will do. You have script or block type fonts. Choose a script for a romantic feel, and choose a block for a classic appeal.
Special characters: Try using symbols such as heart shapes, infinite signs, or degree stones at a minimum cusp cost; even more special characters may be possible.
33Carat Ring Engraving FAQs
What are 33Carat's policies around engravings?
33Carat engravings have a maximum of 15 characters for women's rings and 20 characters for men's rings; longer messages can be engraved for an additional charge. Engravings are only available on wedding rings that are 1.4mm wide or more. Please keep in mind that we do NOT engrave engagement rings, open wedding rings, alternative wedding rings, or eternity rings.
Engraved rings returned or exchanged will incur a £50 charge to remove the engraving.
How much does engraving cost?
Engraving at 33Carat costs £50 to engrave, it truly personalises your ring and makes it unforgettable.
Where else can I go and get my ring engraved?
You can find engraving companies at most local jewellers, just bring your ring. If you have a 33-carat ring, we can engrave it for you.
How long does engraving take?
There are differences between jewellers, but at 33Carat, we engrave in approximately two weeks.
What happens during engraving?
The professional will secure the ring and then engrave, using laser or precision tools to carve your message into the metal, to create a smooth, permanent inscription.
Can you engrave any metal?
Yes, at 33Carat, we engrave them all! -- white gold, yellow gold, rose gold, Platinum.
Are there character limitations to engraving?
Yes - character limitations are based on the size of the ring. More characters may be added depending on your budget.
What could I engrave as a self-gift?
